The problem. Party hosts want theme inspiration and an easy way to find vendors and supplies so that they can throw amazing parties. Party vendors want an easy and efficient way to manage marketing, bookings, logistics, and billing so that they can focus on providing their service.
How does this product solve it? PartyPlease is a party planning marketplace for party hosts and party vendors. Party hosts can find and book vendors, directly pay for services, and manage their party details on their host dashboard. Vendors can build their marketing profiles, list products/services, schedule bookings, manage payments, and communicate with clients and other vendors all in one place. Key features include dashboards for hosts and vendors; in-app messaging, booking, and payments; vendor rating features; vendor business and product pages; and vendor preferred partner ‘works well with’ tagging.
My role in it. I was the design lead on PartyPlease’s MVP as a member of Platform Venture Studio’s product team. In collaboration with the founder, Chief Design/Product Officer, and engineering team, we embraced a fast development and early release approach to gain insights for iteration and next steps. I designed a simple UI kit and component library to support dynamic UI/UX design and facilitate a smooth transition to rapid low-code development.
A bit about the visuals. I applied a high contrast color palette with primary colors of magenta and yellows to create visual delight (think vanilla cake with sprinkles). I used an expressive, upbeat sans serif typeface (Raleway) with a wide range of fonts to create visual hierarchy. To enhance UI communication and reduce cognitive load, I used an icon set (FontAwesome) in buttons and alongside instructional text.
The tools I used. Figma.
My employer. I worked on this project for Platform Venture Studio; Chief Design/Product Officer, Lissette Arias.
